We Made Our 8 Style Challenge Contestants Wear Items They Would Normally NEVER Wear

In our Getfash x Eina Shop Style Challenge, our contestants bravely step out of their fashion comfort zone.

If you ask us, Singaporean women are a pretty adventurous bunch. We backpack, go sky-diving, go mountain-climbing, and more. When it comes to fashion, though, it’s a lot more difficult for us to step out of our comfort zones and try something new. It boils down to this: we think we know what works for us – and we steer clear of items or styles which we think we can’t pull off.

But here at Getfash, we love being experimental, and having fun with fashion. So we’ve teamed up with local label Eina Shop, and issued a Style Challenge to our 8 contestants!

As Eina Shop puts it, life is too short to wear boring clothes. Eina Shop is all about having fun with fashion without worrying about being judged – so in the spirit of being unabashed and unapologetic in your fashion choices, we picked out several items of clothing from Eina Shop which are polar opposites of our contestants’ usual styles.

Using these specific pieces from Eina Shop, our contestants were then challenged to style an outfit around their given item. How did they fare? Scroll down to find out!

#1: Michelle Bei

Michelle, @michbei : "My usual style can be summarized in one sentence: black is always the new black. I usually tend to go for more edgy items, so this girly top from Eina Shop is definitely out of my comfort zone. Because it's a pretty elegant and feminine piece, I styled it with a pair of dusty pink shorts to complement the overall look. Black heels and my trusty Chanel bag complete the outfit!"

#2: Cassandra Tan

Cassandra, @cassandratanmonde : "I'm always partial to clean-cut, minimal styles, so it's definitely a challenge for me to style this larger-than-life blouse from Eina Shop! Because it's so voluminous and architectural, I paired it with a pair of simple, fitted shorts to balance it out. I also kept my choice of accessories simple so that they don't distract from this statement-making top!

#3: Angie Tan

Angie, @msploiploy : "I hardly have any officewear pieces in my wardrobe, and my usual go-tos are my favourite pair of ripped jeans and sneakers. Since I've been challenged to style this feminine dress, I decided to dress up for once and paired it with a yellow clutch and nude pumps. I don't recognize myself with this new outfit - but it's a pleasant change!"

#4: Eliezer Toh

Eliezer, @liezerliezer : "My wardrobe is full of colourful pieces, and I tend to feel dull and inspired when I wear monochrome outfits. Whilst this midi dress from Eina Shop is definitely not something that I'd normally pick, surprisingly, the look does work with the right accessories and my denim jacket which I tied around my waist. I feel like I'm all ready to explore the cobbled streets of Rome in this outfit!"

#5: Goh Kai Yang

Kai Yang, @kaiyanggoh : "My usual style is pretty basic - I'm always in relatively casual, loose-fit clothing. This green midi skirt from Eina Shop is more formal than I'm used to, but I was able to tone it down by pairing it with strappy open-toed sandals instead of flats, or heels. The end result is something that's colourful and fun, but not overly dressy!"

#6: Cherie Foo

Cherie, @saltandtruffles : "I normally gravitate towards more polished pieces such as pencil or midi skirts, and I prefer clean-cut silhouettes as well. This off-shoulder top from Eina Shop, with its wavy details, is not something I'd normally wear, but it inspired me to try out a more casual and tropical look."

#7: Amanda Yong

Amanda, @a.mandayong : "I would classify my usual style as casual and on-the-go; I'm always in comfy outfits featuring shorts, jeans, sneakers, and the like. That having been said, it was fun to dress up for a day with this pretty and ladylike dress from Eina Shop. This is exactly what I'd wear if I was an OL!"

#8: Sabrina Wee

Sabrina, @sabsiez : "I love wearing form-fitting clothes that show off a bit of skin, and my typical style veers more towards sexy rather than feminine. With this office-appropriate dress from Eina Shop, however, it's a completely new look. I haven't looked this feminine or demure for quite a while!"
