Uniqlo Announces Southeast Asia’s First Global Flagship Store in Singapore

Where do you go to get comfortable basics or thermal wear in Singapore? Uniqlo is the answer to that, and has been—at least—since 2009, when they penetrated the local market. Seven years later, the Japanese giant has announced their plans to open its first global flagship store in Singapore for the Southeast Asia region.

The news is a welcomed respite in the wanting economy. The new three-level store will cover approximately 2,700 square metres of Orchard Central mall, and is expected to create more than 300 jobs, including hiring people of disabilities.

Uniqlo Southeast Asia CEO, Taku Morikawa promises to continue their efforts in designing and creating innovative. Singaporeans will recognise the AIRism products—moisture-wicking garments in lightweight fabrics, and HEATTECH products—thin thermal wear for layering beneath.

The store will be the company’s 11th flagship outlet, joining others in major cities like New York, London and Tokyo, and will be Singapore’s 25th outlet. Expected to open in the later part of this year at Orchard Central, the flagship store will provide an extensive range of the latest lines for women, men, kids and babies.
